Newcastle fans would love their first win of the season at home to Leicester at the weekend.
Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has warned his side they need to create more chances in front of goal, but has predicted that will come during a more favourable set of fixtures on the horizon.
The Magpies are without a win in their opening six Premier League games this campaign, but have faced four of last season’s top six teams already.
But they now have the opportunity to rack some points up on the board as Manchester United are the only top six team they face in their next six league matches.
The North East club do have just four goals as a side so far this season and Benitez has revealed his frustration over that, but is backing his attackers to deliver the goods with a swift turnaround in upcoming games.
“I am not happy just drawing games. We have to win, and we have to win right now. We have to improve in attack – that’s obvious – but I have confidence that the next games against teams not as strong (as the top six), we will have more chances to create something,” Benitez said, as quoted by the Chronicle.
Newcastle host Leicester City on Saturday in the league and need to try make St James’ Park a fortress.
They managed a 10th-placed finish last season against all odds, but survival once again seems the main goal after failing to invest heavily in the summer.
Newcastle did welcome centre-forward Salomon Rondon on loan to the club, but he’s had his problems with injury and the responsibility could fall on Joselu at the weekend to dig them out of trouble.
