Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez suggests that Manchester United star Paul Pogba is not at Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard’s level yet.

Benitez worked with Gerrard – now retired – at Liverpool, while Pogba is one of the best midfielders in the world at the moment.
Gerrard is widely recognised as one of the greatest players of all time and is arguably the best midfielder to have ever played for Liverpool.

The former England international was a very consistent player who turned up in big games and led the team by example.
Newcastle manager Benitez has said that France international midfielder Pogba has yet to reach the level of Gerrard.
The former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss made the comments following the Magpies’ defeat to United at the weekend.
Jose Mourinho’s side got the better of the Magpies 4-1 at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday evening, with Pogba scoring in the 54th minute.

“Stevie was a top class player for so many years, very consistent,” Benitez told The Independent.
“He could make the difference in every game, with the ball, without the ball. He was a top class player.
“Pogba is a great player but still he has to be consistent for years like Stevie was for 10-15 years.”
