Newcastle United striker Joselu does not appear good enough to lead the line for Rafael Benitez’s side.

Rafael Benitez’s decision to continue to pick Joselu ahead of Aleksandar Mitrovic is simply unexplainable now.
Benitez has done a wonderful job at Newcastle, and is deservedly revered around St. James’ Park, but that doesn’t mean he is beyond question.
And the Spanish boss’s decision to pick Joselu over Mitrovic is simply unfathomable.

Joselu has never looked like being the answer to Newcastle’s goalscoring problems, and while Benitez may have some doubts over Mitrovic, he has no excuse not to pick him anymore.
Joselu is not good enough to lead the line for the Magpies, and that much has been proven now.

Mitrovic, though, has shown the quality required to prove a threat to Premier League defences and he should be given a run of games.
Mitrovic may have problems with indiscipline, and even he might not be the answer to Newcastle’s striking issues, but he cannot be any worse than Joselu, and the time has come for Benitez to stop ignoring the Serbian international.
