The left-back has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.
In an interview with TV station Omnisport and later published online by Sky Sports, FC Porto defender Rafa Soares has talked about the rumours linking him with a summer switch to Liverpool.
The Reds are in need of a new left-back, having played James Milner out of position for much of last season, and at 22 Soares would represent an impressive long-term investment.
“I know I’ve been followed by English clubs, especially after out campaign,” Soares is quoted as saying. “Liverpool are a great club and to be linked is an enormous honour for me.
“I’m naturally flattered but I’m a Porto player and focused on succeeding here.”

Soares spent last season on loan at Rio Ave where he featured 38 times, scoring three goals and providing five assists in the process.
He previously came through the ranks at Porto, featuring 61 times for their B team, but he is yet to make his first-team debut.
That is likely to change if he remains in Portugal next season, and his comments suggest that he is fully focused on making it at his parent club rather than trying his hand in the Premier League.
However, after praising Jurgen Klopp’s side they may be tempted to test Porto’s resolve with a bid this summer, knowing the importance of strengthening in key areas ahead of their return to the Champions League.
Soares is only going to get better in the years to come and he would be a savvy long-term investment. However, Porto are unlikely to have sent him out on loan and watched him flourish only to cash in 12 months later.
Whatever happens, Liverpool are likely to be interested in Soares’ praise, potentially keeping him on the back-burner even if they look elsewhere during this transfer window.
