Newcastle United are said to be interested in Benfica winger Rafa Silva.

Rafa Silva’s impressive cameo performance for Portugal last night showed why Newcastle United fans should be so excited by their links with him.

Silva came on for Portugal in the Nations League final and he caused Holland’s defence great problems.

The reported Newcastle target’s speed was on full display, as he set off on a number of eye catching dribbles.

The performance should have caught the eye of Newcastle fans, with Rafael Benitez’s side said to be trying to work on a deal for him.

The Chronicle have reported how Silva’s agent has suggested that Newcastle are working on a deal with Benfica, which could be worth over £20 million.

Even at that price, Newcastle could be getting a bargain, if Silva’s display last night was anything to go by.

And if Benitez wanted Silva before, the winger’s Nation League display is only likely to have made him more desperate to add the 26-year-old to the Magpies’ squad this summer.
