Vinny O’Connor told Sky Sports that Duncan Ferguson, Leighton Baines and David Unsworth will meet Everton’s soon-to-be new manager Rafa Benitez today.
The Sky journalist shared that Everton are expected to announce the managerial capture of the ex-Liverpool boss later on today.
There’s no doubt that this appointment is going to be a hot top topic on Merseyside, as Benitez’s arrival has been met with a mixed reaction for those in Liverpool and Everton colours.
This is what a Sky reporter had to say about Benitez arriving at the club’s Finch Farm training ground today.
“Well, Rafa Benitez is here at Everton’s Finch Farm,” said O’Connor. “Last night, we brought you the news that he is effectively the Everton manager because the three-year contract had been finalised.
“We have also seen the likes of Duncan Ferguson arriving after Benitez. Before that, David Unsworth and Leighton Baines were also here.
“We understand that Rafa Benitez will meet with them throughout the day as well.”
Well, not many expected this yet, after Carlo Ancelotti’s unexpected exit at the start of June, the month is ending with even more surprising news.
Benitez loves the high-pressure jobs that come with that degree of difficulty and this one is going to be right up there.
And it’s not going to be an easy one because Everton weren’t exactly flying high last season after they produced an indifferent campaign that saw them finish tenth.
