Newcastle United are in great shape to gain promotion to the Premier League.

Magpies boss Rafa Benitez sat down for an exclusive interview with the Chronicle, and explained how important it will be for the fans to get behind the team for the final eight games of their campaign.
Newcastle currently sit at the top of the Championship table, with a one point advantage over second placed Brighton and Hove Albion, and despite the odd blip here and there, they have been mightily impressive following their disappointing relegation from the Premier League last term.
Five of their remaining eight games are at St James’ Park, and fans of the Tyneside club are quietly confident that their team will bounce straight back to the top flight this term.
And Benitez had a message for those fans, when speaking to the Chronicle, highlighting how he expects even more from them during the final straight:
“Our fans have been magnificent during the whole season, they are incredible. Now we have reached the final stage of the season it is the time to be even better, if they can. They can help with their support of our players. Even if we make mistakes the key is to help the players to try again, to be sure they have the confidence and support to succeed in these final eight games.”
Following the international break, the Geordies face back-to-back home games against Wigan Athletic and Burton Albion respectively, and a return of six points from those outings would put them in a really strong position in their quest to return to the promised land.
