Aarons has just returned to Newcastle from another loan spell.
Rafa Benitez has told the Chronicle that he will look to send Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons out on loan once again, despite the player only just returning to the club.
The 23-year-old is back on Tyneside after his six-month loan with Czech Republic outfit Slovan Liberec finished on December 31. He managed 13 appearances, but failed to score or provide an assist.
Aarons is way down the pecking order at St. James’ Park, behind the likes of Christian Atsu, Jacob Murphy, Matt Ritchie and Ayoze Perez all considered above him in Benitez’s thinking.
Asked about Aarons’ future and whether he would get a chance with Newcastle in the second half of the season, Benitez responded by saying that the Toon would look to find him another loan spell.
“Rolando has been on loan and we must now find the right place for him,” Benitez said. “He has to play every week. He has to have minutes.”
Aarons came through the ranks at Newcastle as a highly-rated prospect and big things were expected of him, especially after he found the back of the net in a Carabao Cup win over Manchester City in October 2014.
He has also scored against Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace, but after just 27 senior appearances for Newcastle it seems as though he has little future in the north east.
He was loaned to Hellas Verona in Serie A for the second half of last season, and after spending the first half of the campaign on loan in the Czech Republic, another move is expected this month. His £14k-a-week contract (Spotrac) expires in 2021.
