Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Rafa Benitez has given an update on the fitness of Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
Gbamin has struggled with injuries ever since his arrival at Goodison Park back in 2019, but after a long journey, he’s reportedly once again fully fit.
Indeed, Benitez says that Gbamin is back in first-team training and is fully fit, labelling this update as ‘good news’.
What’s been said?
Benitez gave an update on Gbamin’s fitness.
“Jean-Philippe is training again so is fully fit, he’s ok,” Benitez said.
“Some players are still not available, but Gbamin is good news because we needed bodies.”

Great to hear
It’s fantastic to hear that Gbamin is finally back fit.
The Ivorian has struggled so much with injury over the past two years, and regardless of whether or not he’s going to make much of an impact for the Toffees this season, on a human level, it’s brilliant to hear he’s healthy again.
Being sidelined for such a long period of what is supposed to be the prime of your career must have been mentally devastating for the midfielder, and we can only hope that he’s now going to be able to get back on track.
As Benitez says, Everton could certainly do with some bodies in the midfield, so perhaps we’ll be seeing the former Mainz man play a part for the Merseyside club in the coming weeks.
