Newcastle United lost 1-0 to fellow promoted club Huddersfield Town this weekend.
Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has been speaking to Sky Sports News about the prospect of more players arriving at St. James’ Park this summer following the club’s 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town.
The Magpies have brought in Florian Lejeune, Jacob Murphy, Javier Manquillo, Joselu and Mikel Moreno so far this summer. However there is still work to be done if he wants a squad capable of challenging at the right end of the Premier League table.

“We have to wait,” Benitez said. “(We are) working behind the scenes, but I don’t know which is our position at the moment.”
That is potentially worrying for those Newcastle fans that have seen their side lose their first two matches of the season.
As a result Benitez’s men are 17th in the table, with only Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and West Ham United below them, and it could be a long hard slog if Newcastle have to settle solely for the players already on their books.
There is still time for Newcastle to get another couple of players through the door, with a quality additional striker top of most supporters’ wish lists.
The problem is they are hard enough to come by even if you are willing to spend big, and thus far Newcastle’s hierarchy has been unwilling to get engrossed in the most inflated of transfer windows.
