The two players are set to arrive at Ibrox in the summer but the former Glasgow Rangers ace wants them at the club in January.

Former Glasgow Rangers ace Alex Rae says he is looking forward to Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara joining the club.

However, he admits that he would have wanted the Light Blues to snap them up this January instead of waiting until the end of the season.

The Scottish Premiership side confirmed on January 5 that the Kilmarnock winger and the Dundee midfielder have signed four-year pre-contract deals at Ibrox after agreeing terms.

Originally signed from Middlesbrough in 2016, Jones has scored nine goals and provided 22 assists in 108 games for Killie, and has also been capped five times by Northern Ireland.

Kamara, a Finland international and former Arsenal academy graduate, has made 65 appearances for Dundee since joining in 2017.

Speaking to Herald Scotland, Rae drew upon his own experiences of signing a pre-contract deal with Rangers, suggesting he fell out of favour at the club he was due to leave.

In addition, he also thought that Gers’ strength in depth has been lacking this season, hence his desire to bring both players in at a cut-price deal this month, says the outlet.

“I saw Kamara in the summer playing against Portuguese teams and he stood out as he could manipulate the ball. Jones would also add good options going forward,” he said.

“Part of Rangers’ problems in the first half-season has been strength in depth. You look at the bench and they only had one or two options if chasing a game. I would get Jones in in a minute if I could.”
