Who could Andrea Radrizzani first sign for Leeds United?

Leeds United are hoping to strengthen this January to aid their promotion push, and can plan ambitiously thanks to the new investment they have secured.

The club confirmed Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani has bought a 50 per cent stake in the club, and with the transfer window open it is a case of perfect timing.

Priority must be given to securing permanent switches for loanees like Pablo Hernandez and Pontus Jansson, but beyond that there are also further additions the club can look at making.

Here is a look at five players who Leeds could sign…

Ashley Fletcher

West Ham youngster Ashley Fletcher has been wanted since Leeds since the summer and Whites CEO Ben Mansford has signed him already, bringing him on loan to Barnsley last season.

Keighley born Fletcher could find his chances limited at the Hammers if the East London side bring in strikers this January, and Leeds are still said to be keen.

Alan Nixon of The Sun reports in their edition p51 (4/1/17) that Leeds are planning to make a £1.5 million bid.

Patrick Bamford

Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford is on his third successive Premier League loan move which looks set to end in failure, failing to get a look in at Burnley.

The former Championship Player of the Year struck 15 goals at Middlesbrough in 2014/15 and would benefit from dropping down a division again.

ESPN report that Leeds have already made an enquiry over his services, with Wolves also interested.

David Nugent

Former Preston North End striker David Nugent is on the lookout for a move away from Middlesbrough after playing on 40 minutes in the top flight this season.

The ex-England international is a proven Championship goalscorer and his chances on Teesside are not helped by Rudy Gestede’s arrival.

Nugent is an ideal squad player behind Chris Wood and West London Sport report Leeds are battling Fulham for his signature.

Jordan Rhodes

Another Middlesbrough striker, Jordan Rhodes has bigger name value than Nugent having been the most expensive January signing in the Championship 12 months ago.

He never really settled for Aitor Karanka’s side and a return to the Championship looks likely.

Previously Rhodes would have been considered out of Leeds’ price range but Radrizzani’s investment could change this.

Henri Lansbury

Dynamic midfielder Henri Lansbury has become the Championship’s most in demand player over the past week as Nottingham Forest’s problems increase.

Lansbury has only six months left on his contract, leaving Forest in a weak position, and Aston Villa are among the clubs keen, report SkySports.

Leeds’ investment could see them strengthen an already talented pool of midfield players and add insurance in case a Pablo Hernandez deal gets complicated or the Spaniard suffers another injury.
