Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has given a rare interview.

Christiansen was fired on Sunday after a spell of five weeks without a win.
Radrizzani admitted he wanted to sack Christiansen sooner, and was persuaded by sporting director Victor Orta not to.

Radrizzani said: “Already at the beginning of January I was really keen to change. Victor convinced me to hold on and give him one more, one more, one more; extra chances but at the end, something was missing.”
The comments highlight the influence Victor Orta has at Leeds, and how Radrizzani’s inexperience in his role led to him deferring to Orta’s advice.
In the end Radrizzani should have listened to his gut, although he will get credit for giving Christiansen longer rope and not acting on impuluse.
What could have been?
If Radrizzani knew in early January the results which would follow, he surely would have made the change immediately.
Failure to do so has meant more damage has been done to Leeds’ season, and they have slumped to 10th in the table.
Fortunately they are just about in the play-off race, but new manager Paul Heckingbottom is under immediate pressure to turn results around to save their ambitions.
Acting after the transfer window is over has also left their new manager with no say at all in recruitment, although it is questionable how much Christiansen had with Orta’s power at the club.
