The Leeds United owner has a busy summer ahead of him but he took time out to congratulate Cook and his young England teammates.
Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has taken to Twitter to respond to a tweet praising former Whites midfielder Lewis Cook and his England under-20 teammates.
The young Lions won the U20 World Cup on Sunday, becoming the first England side at any age level to lift such a trophy since the senior team in 1966.
It was a superb achievement, not least for Cook who has struggled to make any significant impact at Bournemouth following his Leeds exit.
The Whites academy product was one of the crown jewels in Leeds’ side but he swapped Elland Road for the Cherries last summer, subsequently suffering a a series of injuries that means he has only appeared nine times for his new club to date.
The 20-year-old has put that disappointment behind him, getting back to match fitness and leading England’s young guns to a fantastic achievement, and Radrizzani was quick to have his say.
“Congratulations young Lions for this great achievement,” he wrote. “Well done.”
How the Leeds owner could do with Cook in his ranks now, as the club search for a new manager before mounting another promotion push in 2018.
Had Cook remained at Leeds last season he may have been the difference, so close were they to a top-six finish, but hindsight is a wonderful thing and his future is now very much with Bournemouth as he looks to make up for lost time.
