Leeds are hoping to follow Wolves to the Premier League.

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Millwall and Leeds United at The Den on September 16, 2017 in London, England.

adrizzani expressed his anger at Wolves earlier this year after the Whites suffered a heavy defeat at Molineux.

He felt Wolves had an unfair advantage due to the way they had managed to pull off big name transfers – even though the Football League ruled that agent Jorge Mendes’ involvement was within the rules.

Radrizzani later told Talksport he was considering following Wolves’ approach.

Sure enough, Leeds are top of the Championship, but they have taken a totally different route.

Leeds spent only £10 million on transfer fees in the summer, signing Patrick Bamford, and Wolves’ Barry Douglas. The rest of the moves were loan deals.

The key to their success has been the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa.

The Argentine has taken a holistic approach to Leeds’ situation, and is relying on coaching rather than big money moves.

His most expensive signing Patrick Bamford has hardly featured due to injury.

Bielsa has relied on Leeds’ academy to fuel their season, and last week he stated he did not intend to buy any players in January.

If the Whites can achieve promotion, Leeds’ success will be viewed as even better than Wolves.

There are no ‘super agents’ involved here, or big name signings like Ruben Neves who have played at Champions League level.
