Leeds United have been linked with Oliver McBurnie.

Andrea Radrizzani, Owner of Leeds United looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Bristol City and Leeds United at Ashton Gate on October 21, 2017 in Bristol, England.

Leeds United’s season has petered out after a blistering start, and they are yet again set to miss out on a place in the Championship play-offs.

The Whites looked set to mount a promotion push under Thomas Christiansen, but they have fallen apart in 2018, to the point where Christiansen was sacked and replaced with Paul Heckingbottom.

Heckingbottom hasn’t fared well either, winning just twice since leaving Barnsley for Elland Road, and owner Andrea Radrizzani has shouldered some of the criticism for another disappointing season.

Victor Orta’s signings have put his position in question with fans, but Radrizzani can get fans back on side this summer by funding two major deals for Swansea City players.

The Daily Mail report that Leeds want to sign Swansea striker Oliver McBurnie this summer, having seen him hit eight goals in 13 games on loan at Barnsley since signing in January.

The 21-year-old striker was signed by Heckingbottom at Barnsley, and would give Leeds a talented young goalscorer who knows the Championship; a much safer bet than gambling on the likes of Caleb Ekuban, Jay-Roy Grot and Pawel Cibicki, whilst the fact he was born in Leeds should also stand him in good stead with Whites fans.

Another Swansea player who Leeds fans would love to see sign on the dotted line is defender Kyle Bartley, who starred in the heart of the Leeds defence during a loan spell in the 2016-17 season.

Bartley, 26, is the partner Pontus Jansson needs in the Leeds back line, and having started just twice in the Premier League for Swansea this season, it’s time for Radrizzani to mount a major bid to bring him back to Elland Road.

Fans are far from impressed with how this season has gone, but landing Bartley and McBurnie would be a major signal of intent for Leeds ahead of the new season – and ultimately get fans back on side with Radrizzani and co.
