Michael Owen says what Mohamed Salah has produced this season for Liverpool is ‘quite staggering’.

The former Liverpool striker added that Jurgen Klopp ‘won’t be looking to replace’ Mohamed Salah anytime soon after he scored goal number 26 of the season on Monday night.

There are some suggestions that Salah is having an off-campaign. Well, if 15 Premier League goals and 26 in all competitions is an off-season, then most players would take that every day of the week.

Leeds United felt the wrath of Salah because he netted a brace at Elland Road as Liverpool secured a stunning 6-1 win.

It was a rare away performance of real quality from the Reds because they have been off it all season long and Michael Owen was full of praise for the club’s Egypt star, as he told Premier League Productions (17/04/23 at 8:55 pm).

“Those numbers are quite staggering,” said Owen. “We talk about Liverpool struggling in certain areas.

“If he keeps firing in 25 (now 26) goals every year, then I am sure Jurgen Klopp won’t be looking to replace him or anyone in that position again, in the foreseeable future. Another great season.”

SALAH IS STILL ONE OF THE BEST

There have been moments this season when Salah has looked a little off-colour, but he has done more than enough to prove that he shouldn’t be disrespected like he has.

Many felt, after signing a new long-term contract, that his form and career was going in the direction of a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

But, as he proved against Manchester United, in what was perhaps his best performance in recent years, Salah still has the quality to lead Liverpool’s charge again during these coming years.
