Darren Bent has said on talkSPORT that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United should make a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

The former Tottenham striker believes that it would be fitting if Spurs striker Kane joins Newcastle and becomes the top scorer of all time in the Premier League.

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer is the top scorer of all time in the Premier League.

The Englishman scored 260 goals in 441 appearances in the Premier League.

Tottenham and England international striker Kane has scored 198 goals in 300 Premier League matches so far in his career.

Newcastle United tipped to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur

Bent said about Kane and Newcastle: “Do you know someone who could be in for him? It would be quite funny, quite fitting actually. Imagine Newcastle and go, ‘How about breaking Shearer’s record at Newcastle’.”

Could a transfer happen?

In our view, Harry Kane is not going to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, but if Spurs do not end up in the Premier League top four and Newcastle United qualify for the UEFA Champions League, then a move could well happen.

Newcastle are going places, and for Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the £200,000-a-week striker (SalarySport) would be a superstar signing.

Kane surely would want to end up as the top scorer of all time in the Premier League, and the 29-year-old could be tempted to move to St. James’ Park.
