Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after Jürgen Klopp signed a new contract at Liverpool, extending his stay at Anfield to June 2026.

What’s the story?

Well, the BBC Match of the Day host seems delighted by the news, even though he doesn’t support the Reds.

Lineker made the point that Klopp’s contract extension isn’t just good news for Liverpool supporters, but for fans of the Premier League in general.

He’s not wrong. The £192,307-a-week tactician isn’t just a world class coach, but he’s also a great entertainer with an abundance of charisma.

Even those who have no fondness towards Liverpool surely can’t help but smile as Klopp punches the air in front of the Kop End in passionate style.

After watching footage of Klopp’s announcement interview, Lineker wrote: “Great news for not just Liverpool fans, but for most of us that watch Premier League football. So much respect for this man. What he’s achieved is quite extraordinary. Would love to play under him.”

Clearly, the 61-year-old is a big fan of the German, and is looking forward to seeing what he can achieve between now and 2026.

In our view, something special is on the horizon – Klopp is creating a dynasty at Anfield, and has built what is arguably the best side in Liverpool’s history.

It’s rare to see everything fall into place all at one in football, but as things stand, this seems to be what is happening at Liverpool.

Klopp has a brilliant mix of experienced superstars such as Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Thiago and Sadio Mané – among many more – as well as a crop of potentially world class youngsters such as Harvey Elliott.

The 54-year-old has a fanbase who worship him, owners who are willing to back him and players who are ready to die for him – the foundations are there to achieve something unprecedented in English football.

In truth, if the Reds secure the quadruple this season, then we’re not quite sure how that can be topped.

We suppose Klopp could then aim for a sextuple next season with the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup up for grabs, if the Champions League is secured this term.

That sounds impossible, but under Klopp, anything is possible for Liverpool.
