Ian Wright loved the backing Richarlison was getting from his Tottenham Hotspur teammates after scoring and assisting during the dramatic 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Saturday.

Tottenham’s club-record transfer came off the bench and helped turn around the game from the 98th minute onwards.

Not only was that game morale-boosting for the Tottenham side as a whole, but also for Richarlison following his well-documented on-field and off-field issue.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright thinks that Richarlison can now ‘easily’ score 10-12 Premier League goals under Ange Postecoglou this season, as he told Premier League Productions (18/09/23 at 2:15 pm).

Well, in a struggling Everton side, the Brazil star hit double figures in the Premier League on a regular basis.

So, now that he is playing with much better players and an attack-minded team, then there is no reason why he can’t get his engine to rev to those standards again.

How many Premier League goals will Richarlison score for Tottenham?

“The way he has been managed to this point and you could see the backing he is getting from his teammates,” said Wright.

“You know if you can get Richarlison back to when he was flying at Everton, get him back to that with Son playing how he is, Kulusevski playing like he is, you see Brennan Johnson when he starts to emerge, Maddison, you have Sarr, then Bissouma playing as good as he was at Brighton. Very stable at the back.

“You are looking at a team now that is very confident, and a player now if he can throw in 10-12 goals, which he is easily capable of doing Richarlison, now that his head is clear and everything. They are going to cause (huge problems).”

Postecoglou is the right coach for Richarlison

The 26-year-old comes across as the type of player that needs that arm around his shoulder, rather than a verbal beating.

Even though Antonio Conte was in the dugout when he joined Spurs, the Italian, within six months of working with the player, was letting rip at him in the media.

There is just no way that Postecoglou will do that, which will probably help Richarlison push towards his best again, not forgetting that there are so many goals on offer in this new-look Spurs side.
