Paul Scholes has claimed that Steven Gerrard will be ‘quite angry’ with Aston Villa’s performance following their goalless draw against ten-man Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday.
The Premier League legend added that Leeds were ‘resolute’ after going down to ten men early in the second half, but he was clear that Villa should have secured all three points.
It was an aggressive and hotly-contested game in Yorkshire, with not much between the two as they went into the break.

But with Luis Sinisterra already on a booking heading into the second half, he was shown a second yellow for blocking a quick free-kick from Villa.
It was an unnecessary moment from the all-action winger and it turned the tide of the game in Villa’s direction.
Even though the away side started to dominate a lot more of the ball, including creating a number of big chances, they just couldn’t see past the brick wall of Leeds and Scholes was critical of the Midlands outfit, as he told Premier League Productions (02/10/22 at 6:40 pm).
“They should be winning that game for me,” said Scholes. “They are playing virtually half of the game against ten men.
“Yes, Leeds were resolute and dug in and they had a couple of half chances themselves. But I think Steven (Gerrard) will be really frustrated and really angry with that performance.
“Not just so much the performance, the end of it, the finishing was really poor from Watkins and Coutinho. There were so many chances.
“It will be a game of frustration. He (Gerrard) will be quite angry in that dressing room with how they have gone about it.”

PRESSURE MOUNTING ON GERRARD
If Scholes feels that Gerrard will be angry with that performance, well, the Villa fans will be annoyed with the man in their dugout.
These performances and results aren’t convincing and the pressure is mounting on the former England captain in the dugout.
A certain Midlands club in Wolves have sacked their manager – Bruno Lage – on Sunday and some in B6 will be wondering how long Gerrard has in the job.
But Villa have to look at the positives and that’s two clean sheets back-to-back and three games unbeaten heading into their game against Nottingham Forest.
