Newcastle have been linked with a whole host of strikers this month.

Newcastle United legend Micky Quinn has claimed in his Evening Chronicle column that signing Danny Ings from Liverpool would be a much better move than Leicester City’s Islam Slimani.
The Toon have been repeatedly linked with a number of strikers this month, with manager Rafa Benitez desperate to bring in fresh faces at St. James’ Park to boost his side’s Premier League survival come May 2018.
Liverpool attacker Ings has hardly played in recent times following two successive anterior cruciate ligament injuries and remains way down the pecking order at Anfield behind Robert Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Dom Solanke.
He has been afforded just 11 minutes of Premier League football this season.

Algeria international Slimani has also found game time hard to come by, with Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki and Leonardo Ulloa preferred. Quinn wants the Toon to move for Ings instead of Slimani, as the latter is lacking in confidence.
“Two names who keep being linked are Danny Ings and Islam Slimani,” Quinn said. “If I was to choose one of the two, I’d go for Ings. I think Slimani would be a risk. When I first saw Slimani after he signed for Leicester, I was really impressed.
“But he’s looked a shadow of that this season. Maybe it’s due to a lack of gametime, maybe he is low on confidence, maybe the manager isn’t playing to his strengths. Ings, meanwhile, is a player I like a lot.
“He’s never going to be a 20-goal-a-season striker, but he will get a decent number – and he will create opportunities for others to score more too.”

The Toon currently have the likes of Joselu, Dwight Gayle and Aleksander Mitrovic up front, with the latter currently interesting Ligue 1 side Bordeaux while Joselu has hardly shown the precision required in front of goal.
Newcastle are back in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon as they go up against Swansea City in what is a crucial match in terms of the bottom end of the table, with home advantage making the Toon favourites.
