Leeds United are reportedly keen on West Ham United’s Domingos Quina.
According to The Mirror, Leeds United are interested in snapping up West Ham United talent Domingos Quina – but it’s hard to see exactly where he would fit in for the Whites.
Quina, 18, has been touted for a huge future for some time now, having been on the books with Benfica and Chelsea before heading to West Ham in 2016.
Born in Guinea-Bissau but representing Portugal at international level, Quina is a diminutive playmaker with pace and skill, but his role under Marcelo Bielsa is hard to fathom.
Bielsa looks set to play his famed 3-3-1-3 system with Leeds next season, and Quina would only add to a logjam for two spots in the middle of the park.
In the holding role, Bielsa is likely to favour a player like Adam Forshaw or Ronaldo Vieira, and protecting the back four would hardly be getting the best out of Quina’s attacking play.
Going forward, Bielsa also has a number of options. Samu Saiz would be an ideal No. 10, whilst Pablo Hernandez, Kalvin Phillips and new signing Lewis Baker could also stake a claim for that role.
Bielsa could try and turn Quina into a winger, but with limited experience there, it’s hard to see exactly where the West Ham youngster would play for the Whites, leaving him in a similar position to the one he finds himself in at West Ham.
Instead, Leeds should focus on a striker or wide man, and whilst Quina clearly has talent and potential, a move currently seems like a luxury rather than a necessity for a Leeds side in need of real strengthening.
