Some West Ham United fans on social media have been lavishing praise upon Angelo Ogbonna after his performance against Stockport County on Monday evening.

The Italian had an incredible game as the Hammers scraped through in the cup with a late 1-0 win over their non-league opposition.

Stockport, of course, aren’t on the same level as West Ham when it comes to stature and financial power, but County proved to be tough opposition, and Ogbonna was called into action on more than one occasion in this game.

The fact that Ogbonna was able to put in such a strong performance on such a poor pitch was brilliant to see, and as you can imagine, fans on social media were quick to praise him for his showing.

A number of fans named him as their Man of the Match, while his aerial prowess was also praised, with one supporter jokingly claiming that Ogbonna had won more headers against Stockport than Sebastien Haller had in the past 12 months.

The Italy international certainly deserves all of the praise coming his way, and while his centre-half partner is likely to grab all of the headlines for his goalscoring antics, Ogbonna’s performance was just as important when it comes to the Hammers progressing in the FA Cup.

Here’s what the West Ham faithful have been saying on social media…
