Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are about to miss out on Moussa Diaby to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
According to 90min, Aston Villa are on the verge of signing Moussa Diaby, a player Arsenal and Newcastle United also want to sign in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that Diaby has accepted the offer from Villa and will soon undergo a medical before completing a move from Bayer Leverkusen.
Saudi Arabia’s club Al Nassr were also keen on the winger, but Villa has won the race for the France international and will pay £43 million for him.
Earlier this month, Bild reported interest from Newcastle in Diaby.
Football Transfers also claimed this month that the Magpies are keen on the former Paris Saint-Germain player, who is “exciting” and “quick and tricky”, according to European football expert Kevin Hatchard.

The Telegraph reported in May that Arsenal registered their interest in Diaby.
Arsenal and Newcastle United should keep tabs on Moussa Diaby at Aston Villa
In our opinion, Arsenal and Newcastle United should continue to keep tabs on Moussa Diaby at Aston Villa.
Just because the 24-year-old is on his way to Villa does not mean that the Gunners and the Magpies should give up on signing the France international in the future.
We believe that Arsenal and Newcastle should monitor the winger during his time at Villa.
If the Frenchman does well for Villa in the next year or two, then the Gunners and the Magpies should make moves.
Diaby is 24 now, and he would become a better and more mature player in two years’ time, especially if he is able to negotiate the intensity and rigorous nature of the Premier League.
Diaby made 33 appearances in the Bundesliga for Bayer last season.
The 24-year-old scored nine goals and gave eight assists in those games.
The winger also made seven starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Europa League for Bayer last campaign.
Diaby scored three goals and gave one assist in those matches.
