Speaking to Sky Sports, Andy Walker has raised huge questions about Celtic’s squad’s commitment after their 4-1 loss to Sparta Prague on Thursday.
The pundit said that questions need to be asked about whether or not the players are giving everything for the manager or if they’re committed to the club.
This comes just days after Lennon himself questioned his players’ commitment, saying that there needs to be a culture change at the club.
Walker seems to have a very similar view to the Celtic manager.
“Questions will be asked of the manager, so many of the players and their commitment to this club. When you lose four goals at home, questions need to be asked about the players, and if they are giving everything for the manager,” Walker told Sky.
“Neil Lennon said after the game against Ferencvaros in the Champions League qualifier that some wanted to be elsewhere, and it looked that way on Thursday.”
It’s interesting to see that both Lennon and Walker are blaming the players.
However, it does make a lot of sense. Mohamed Elyounoussi was spotted checking his phone while on the bench, and that isn’t the type of thing you want to see from you players during such a big fixture.
Lennon has never had these types of problems before, winning five league titles at Celtic during his two spells as manager, but the Bhoys’ run of consecutive SPFL titles may come to an end if things don’t change quickly.
Walker is right, questions need to be asked, and Lennon needs to be the man with all of the answers.
