Erik ten Hag has admitted that Manchester United could be without Bruno Fernandes for their Premier League clash against Tottenham.
The Red Devils travel to N17 this Thursday to take on a managerless Spurs side, who have just sacked Cristian Stellini from his role as Interim Manager and replaced him with Ryan Mason.
It is a hugely significant game in the battle for a Champions League qualification position, and Ten Hag has now shared some important updates.
What’s the story?
Well, the £250,000-a-week man was seen leaving Wembley in a protective boot after Manchester United defeated Brighton in the FA Cup Semi-Final on Sunday.
However, Ten Hag has now revealed that the boot was more for preventative reasons, but conceded that Fernandes is still a doubt for the meeting with Tottenham.

Manchester United’s official website quote the Dutchman as saying: “We have to see how Bruno Fernandes is. We don’t know yet, he is a question mark. It’s more often (than not) that players (wear the boot), that we protect them. Prevention.”
“It (the ankle) has to settle down so we all have seen he played the full (90 minute) game and it happened in the first half. But (the game is) Thursday, so tomorrow is quick but we have to see what is possible.”
Fernandes has made 50 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United so far this season, scoring ten goals while also providing 13 assists.
How the Premier League looks ahead of Tottenham vs Manchester United
To put it simply, Tottenham’s hopes of a place in the top four will basically be over if they lose to Manchester United.
As things stand, Ten Hag’s side sit fourth – six points ahead of Spurs with two games in hand.
Even Aston Villa have come from out of nowhere to leapfrog Tottenham, with the Villans now sitting fifth as Spurs slip to sixth after a wretched run of results.
Therefore, if Manchester United end up going nine points clear of Spurs with a win on Thursday – while also having those two games in hand – it will surely be curtains for the north Londoners.
