Championship outfit Nottignham Forest were running the rule over former Lyon and St Etienne defender Vieira.

Quentin Vieira has joined Swiss Super League outfit Servette FC after failing to earn a contract at Nottingham Forest.
There was a strange name on the Nottingham Forest team-sheet during a July friendly against Dundee. Alongside Michael Dawson, Ben Watson and Joe Lolley stood the former Lyon defender Vieira as Sabri Lamouchi took charge of the East Midland giants for the first time, as reported by The Post.
The game ended goalless and unfortunately for Vieira he didn’t even get off the bench against Dundee. And it seems that is as close as he was ever going to get to pulling on the famous red jersey of the two-time European champions.
A French-born defender with Portuguese heritage, Vieira is equally comfortable at centre-half and left-back though his impressive versatility wasn’t enough to keep him at Lyon. The 20-year-old, who has also spent time at Lyon’s arch rivals St Etienne, was released at the start of the summer.

But after that brief spell at Forest came to nothing, Vieira has finally been handed a fresh start over in Switzerland.
Servette have enjoyed a fine start to life back in the Swiss top tier after winning the second division last season and they have now snapped up the free agent on a two-year deal.
