The Daily Telegraph named Hasselbaink as part of its investigation into corruption in football but he’ll take charge of his side against Fulham on Saturday.

Queens Park Rangers have issued a statement on their website putting their investigation into manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on hold until the Daily Telegraph provides further evidence about their meeting.

The Dutchman was allegedly filmed discussing with undercover reporters posing as representatives of a fake firm from the Far East, about the prospect of purchasing players from the company and negotiating a fee of around £55,000 to act as an ambassador for them, while arranging to fly to Singapore for further meetings.

The newspaper published their report on Thursday morning as a continuation of their investigation into corruption in football, which saw Sam Allardyce step down as England manager after just one game following the revelation he met the same representatives and discussed about bending FA rules on third-party ownership and also becoming an ambassador.

Now, ahead of QPR’s game away to Fulham, The Hoops have announced that they have put their internal enquiry into Hasselbaink on hold until the Daily Telegraph brings all evidence regarding the 44-year-old forward.

The club said on their website: “QPR can confirm that we are currently unable to proceed any further with the club’s internal investigation at this stage, as The Telegraph are yet to provide full and complete unconditional disclosure of all the information it has, despite a number of requests from both the club and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s legal team.

“We urge The Telegraph to provide full disclosure of all its information relating to the allegations, including video footage and a full transcript of the discussions that took place.

“The club believes this information should not be provided selectively, but unedited and unconditionally, in order for the club to view the full context and the sequence of what was said by all parties to include in its investigation.”

Hasselbaink has strongly denied any wrongdoing on his part and will remain in charge for QPR’s trip to Craven Cottage on Saturday lunchtime.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday evening when first implicated by the Daily Telegraph, he said: “I was approached by Mr McGarvey and Ms Newell of The Telegraph purporting to be players’ agents.

“They offered me a fee to make a speech in Singapore. I do not see anything unusual in being offered to be paid to make a speech.

“I did not make any promises in return. I did not ask QPR to purchase any of the players who were said to be managed by Mr McGarvey and Ms Newell and did not and would not recommend the purchase of a player for my personal gain.”

The newspaper has handed over evidence to both the FA and police who have asked for their co-operation as they begin their own investigation into alleged bribes taken by managers and coaches over transfer dealings.

Earlier in the week Barnsley sacked assistant manager Tommy Wright in the wake of his own allegations relating to The Telegraph’s findings.
