The Wycombe Wanderers boss is reportedly being lined up to succeed Ian Holloway.
Queens Park Rangers fans are reacting on Twitter after a report emerged linking them with a move for Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth.
According to the Sun on Sunday (May 6th, page 65), QPR are likely to approach Ainsworth, with Ian Holloway ‘looking set to leave’ Loftus Road – a proposition it is suggested the 44-year-old would be warm to.
And while Holloway – whose mother passed away this week – has since dismissed talk he could quit the R’s, the prospect of Ainsworth as boss is one that would seemingly excite many of a Hoops persuasion.
Although he is not the only name being discussed…
Ainsworth – who has led Wycombe out of League Two in his sixth season as Chairboys boss – spent nearly a third of his 23-year playing career at QPR, and was part of the side that won promotion to the Championship under Holloway in 2003-04.
The former winger moved to Wycombe directly after his Loftus Road spell ended and landed his first managerial role two-and-a-half years later.
