Niko Hamalainen has earned praise, after he made his Queens Park Rangers debut against Sunderland in the EFL Cup last night.

QPR lost 2-1 against the Black Cats last night, with Hamalainen selected to start in the contest.

The Finnish youth international generally looked quite impressive, even against Premier League opposition, and most R’s fans have congratulated him on a solid first appearance.

Hamalainen strung the play together well, and also worked hard – although he did appear to tire in the second-half.

Whether the 19-year-old will remain in contention to start in QPR’s league matches remains to be seen, but he certainly did his chances no harm.

Here is the best reaction to Hamalainen’s performance against Sunderland from Rangers fans on social media website Twitter.

In the match, QPR had gone in front when Sandro struck, but two Paddy McNair goals turned things around and ensured Sunderland progressed to the next round.
