Queens Park Rangers have loaned Ben Gladwin out to Swindon Town during the January transfer window.

Ian Holloway has criticised Queens Park Rangers fans for their treatment of Ben Gladwin, through his comments in the Kilburn Times.

QPR loaned out Gladwin to Swindon Town earlier this month, and the midfielder has gone on to do well in League One.

Gladwin scored on his debut, in Swindon’s win against Bolton Wanderers, but he has failed to make much of an impact at Loftus Road.

And Holloway believes that part of the reason he failed to impress at QPR, is because the fans got on his back too quickly.

“Gladwin’s gone back to Swindon and scored a goal. It’s because the Swindon crowd like him and ours don’t,” Holloway explained.

“I don’t think he could ever score for us if our fans keep on chanting against him, like when I gave him a chance before.

“Is it rocket science? Are Bolton that far away from us? How can he play for Swindon and score a goal straight away?

“If you had a teacher who screamed at you and said ‘you’re rubbish’ all the time, could you actually achieve anything? I don’t think so.

“I think the lad got unfairly treated at the end of the day.”

Holloway is now eager for QPR fans not to do the same with striker Conor Washington.

Washington was a big money signing from Peterborough last January, but he has struggled since moving to the London club.

The former St Ives Town and Newport front man has only two goals to his name so far, and there have been suggestions that he could move on this month.

However, Holloway insists that Washington still has a big part to play for QPR this season.

“He’s a huge part of my plans, I really like the look of him,” Holloway added.

“In the new system we’ve been playing, I believe he can play really well in it, and I just want people to be patient.”
