Mike McGrath has reported on Twitter that Stoke City and Norwich City are interested in signing Alex Pritchard from Sunderland in the January transfer window.

The Telegraph journalist has reported his morning that Sunderland midfielder Pritchard has a number of clubs chasing his signature.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder – described as a “quality” player by former Black Cats manager Lee Johnson on the club’s official website in July 2021 – is out of contract at Sunderland at the end of the season.

Stoke and Norwich are among the Championship clubs keen on the 29-year-old attacking midfielder, according to McGrath.

What should the Black Cats do?

In our opinion, Sunderland should keep hold of Alex Pritchard for the rest of the season.

After all, the former Tottenham attacking midfielder is an important player in Tony Mowbray’s team, who are aiming to finish in the Championship top six this season.

Pritchard has made 21 starts and two substitute appearances in the Championship for the Black Cats so far this season.

The attacking midfielder has scored two goals and given three assists in those matches.

Sunderland are fourth in the Championship table at the moment with 37 points from 25 matches, 13 points behind Burnley and Sheffield United, who are first and second respectively in the standings.
