Peter Schmeichel has heaped praise on Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones after he netted a brace during his side’s 3-0 win at Leicester City on Monday night.
The legendary keeper stated that Curtis Jones’ finish for his second goal was pure ‘quality’ and there is nothing the Leicester keeper could do about it, as he told Premier League Productions (15/05/23 at 10:10 pm).
There were some suggestions that Daniel Iversen should have saved Jones’ pinging shot, but Schmeichel made it clear that the power on the shot made life difficult for his fellow countryman.

Those two goals were very much-needed and deserved for Jones, who for large parts, has had a troublesome season, alongside his team.
Only back in March, the 22-year-old was told to leave Liverpool in the summer. Well, he is showing those critics now.
Nonetheless, this is what Schmeichel made of Jones’ second goal yesterday and the viewpoint from the keeper.
“When you look at it from this angle (behind Jones), then it looks like he (Leicester’s keeper) is supposed to save it (Liverpool’s second goal),” said Schmeichel.
“But when you see it from behind, you see how much pace the ball has got. That finish is just good. It’s quality finish. When you see quality goals, you have to say ‘that was quality’.
“It was timed right, then the little touch with his right foot to put it perfectly for his finish. It’s just quality.”

WILL JONES LEAVE LIVERPOOL IN THE SUMMER?
Added with some calling for Jones to head for the exit door, Paul Merson even suggested that he would fair well at a team like Aston Villa.
Well, given that the £15k-a-week star (Spotrac) has played a massive part in Liverpool winning their last seven games, he’s probably answered the question that he isn’t going anywhere in the summer.
Even though Jones broke onto the scene as a teenager, it needs to be remembered that he is still young by age and he has plenty more to improve on.
