Michael Carrick has lauded Tottenham striker Harry Kane and the ‘authority’ he brings in front of goal, as he told Premier League Productions.
Tottenham thrashed Everton 5-0 on Monday night, with Kane netting a brace, as Carrick shared that he is a player he can talk about ‘all night’.
With those goals last night, Kane has now surpassed Thierry Henry’s Premier League goal tally of 175 and he is now one behind equalling Frank Lampard’s record (177).
It would have just rubbed salt into the wounds of the Everton boss if that happened in front of his eyes, but there’s no doubt that Kane will go above the legendary midfielder this season.
Nonetheless, during his playing days, Carrick would have played alongside some of the best strikers the game has ever seen, including Wayne Rooney, as the former midfielder made it clear that Kane is a ‘quality’ player.
“There aren’t many players in the world, on your weaker foot, when the ball is coming at you like that, you kind of expect him to hit the target,” said Carrick.
“Most of the players, you aren’t even expecting it to hit the target and for him, it’s a brilliant goal. What a strike. He’s got that authority like when he went through in the first half. You don’t expect him to miss.
On passing Thierry Henry’s record: “The other boys there have all played for teams that are winning things. Maybe they got more service or maybe they don’t. He creates so much himself anyway.
“You could speak all night about his record and what he brings. Composure in front of goals. It’s quality. It’s not an accident. It’s work. Attitude. Building, year on year and getting better and better.”

The one glaring thing about Kane’s record compared to the others is that he is sitting with zero trophies or medals to his name.
There are some who feel that he needs to head for the north London exit door in order to change that.
Last summer, it was well-documented that he wanted to leave and that will, no doubt, rear its ugly head again this summer.
But with a trophy-laden coach in the dugout, will Antonio Conte get the backing that will then, in turn, persuade Kane to sign a new deal? Because that would be the ideal scenario for the Spurs faithful.
