Tottenham star Cristian Romero has been speaking about Paulo Dybala after the Argentina international suffered a serious injury.
The South American – who allegedly snubbed Arsenal and Tottenham in favour of a move to Roma – has unfortunately torn a thigh muscle, plunging his World Cup hopes in doubt.
Cristian Romero praises man who snubbed Tottenham
Speaking about his fellow Argentine, the Tottenham No.17 told La Nación: “A little sad for Paulo, who I think will not arrive. I didn’t talk to him, but I think he must be very down, and I wish him a speedy recovery.
“He is a very positive person, he gives quality to the game for Argentina. Beyond the fact that he is a starter, every time he has played, he has made a difference, it is a very important loss.”
Clearly, Romero thinks highly of Dybala, and it would have been interesting to see the South American duo playing alongside each other for Spurs.
The 28-year-old had enjoyed a strong start to life in Rome before his untimely injury, scoring seven goals while also providing two assists in 11 appearances across all competitions.

It was Tutto Mercato Web who revealed that Tottenham wanted to sign the £222,000-a-week man, although he clearly had little interest in a move to N17 as José Mourinho lured him to Rome on a free transfer.
Spurs eventually signed Richarlison in a £60m deal from Everton, and the Brazil international – like Dybala – has also started the campaign well, providing five goal involvements in 12 appearances across all competitions.
Tottenham almost signed Paulo Dybala before
Interestingly, Tottenham have attempted to sign Dybala before while Mauricio Pochettino was in charge.
According to the BBC, a deal almost happened in the summer of 2019, although Juventus eventually pulled the plug on negotiations.
Now, we believe Dybala and Tottenham’s paths will never cross.
The Argentine will be approaching his 32nd birthday when his contract expires in July 2025, and Spurs are not known for making big moves for players in their thirties – hardly any of the Premier League’s top six do that, in truth.
Hopefully, Dybala can make a swift recovery and earn himself a place in Argentina’s World Cup squad.
