Reported Leeds United target Rodrigo De Paul has the quality to play for Serie A giants Juventus and Inter Milan, Champions League winner Massimo Ambrosini has told Sky Italia, via Sempre Inter.

Next season, the Argentina international could finally be given the opportunity to show exactly why he has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs during the past 12 months.

Udinese director Pasquale Marino all-but confirmed a few weeks ago that De Paul would be sold.

And, at this stage, Leeds’ interest is no secret.

Last summer De Paul even admitted, in that now-deleted tweet, he was keen to join forces with compatriot Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road.

According to The Sun, the Premier League’s most entertaining team are still interested in a versatile central midfielder who wouldn’t look out of place in those weekly murder-ball sessions.

“A player like De Paul could play for Inter, given he provides so much quality. He could fit into Antonio Conte’s midfield, as well as at Juventus,” says AC Milan legend Ambrosini.

Udinese are expected to demand a fee in the region of £40 million for the one-time Valencia youngster, meaning Leeds would have to part with a club-record transfer fee if they are serious about luring De Paul to West Yorkshire.

In all competitions this season, the 26-year-old has produced eight goals and seven assists.

But there’s more to De Paul’s game than causing havoc in the final third. An attacking midfielder at club level, he’s a defensively minded scrapper when wearing the blue and white of Argentina, his relentless work ethic earning him the admiration of one Lionel Messi.
