Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Alan Shearer has been waxing lyrical about Conor Gallagher and his performances for West Brom this season.
The midfielder has been fantastic for the Baggies this term, and Shearer has certainly been impressed by what the Chelsea loanee has done in the Midlands this term.
Shearer described him as an exciting midfield prospect, and he’s certainly not wrong with that description.
“The next player under our microscope is Conor Gallager. This young man has caught the eye with a number of performances for struggling West Brom. An exciting midfield prospect, Gallagher is West Brom’s leading ball winner, and he even has a decent cross on him. He whipped in a wicked ball for Diagne against Man United also getting an assist for Bartley as the Baggies got a win against Brighton. The lad’s also got quality and confidence going forward,” Shearer said.
“I think the young man is having a positive season at West Brom, but if he can do that week in week out is another matter, but he will certainly give Thomas Tuchel a headache in the summer.”
It’s a real shame that Gallagher isn’t West Brom’s player, but if he carries on the way he’s been playing, there’s no reason why he can’t make an impact at Chelsea.
Perhaps it’s because he’s been playing for a team battling relegation, but it feels as though Gallagher has really gone under the radar this term, so it’s great to see him getting the recognition he deserves from a legend like Shearer.
