Tottenham Hotspur appear to have a real chance of winning the race for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo in the January transfer window.
Ange Postecoglou will be hoping for a late Christmas present at Tottenham Hotspur – a new centre back.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are a solid pairing when they are available, providing ability on the ball as well as recovery pace in Postecoglou’s high line.
The problem is that Romero is prone to a red card and Van de Ven is currently out injured, exposing Tottenham’s lack of depth.
Tottenham need to bring in another option at the back and they are now accelerating a move for one French international…
Jean-Clair Todibo open to Tottenham Hotspur move
Reports earlier this week suggested that Tottenham were in talks with the representatives of Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
Fabrizio Romano added on Wednesday that Tottenham have also been in talks with Nice to try and thrash out a deal.
90min now add that Todibo and his representatives are now open to joining Tottenham.
It’s suggested that Nice will let Todibo leave for around £35million with agents telling Tottenham to make a move.
Todibo being interested in the move is a major boost for Tottenham and gives Spurs real hope of getting a January deal done – especially with so much competition around.

Liverpool could miss out on Todibo
The London Evening Standard claimed in November that Liverpool and Manchester United are keen on Todibo.
Liverpool have lost defender Joel Matip to a season-ending injury and the Reds may need to bring in another centre back in 2024.
Whether that will be a priority remains to be seen, and the same goes for United with Erik ten Hag already having several centre backs at his disposal.
Tottenham may feel that January is the time to strike for Todibo with Liverpool and United maybe more likely to move in the summer.
The former Barcelona defender has been hailed as a ‘quality’ player by boss Francesco Farioli and now looks to be Tottenham’s transfer priority heading into January.
