Rangers may be level on points with The Bees in the table, but Sebastian Polter says support from the terraces could make the difference on Friday.

QPR striker Sebastian Polter has attempted to rile up the club’s supporters on Twitter as they prepare to take on London rivals Brentford in the Championship on Friday.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side snatched a morale-boasting 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage against neighbours Fulham at the start of the month (below), and will be hoping to follow that up with another derby victory against a Brentford side just two places ahead of them on goal difference only.

And Rangers forward Polter has taken to Twitter to demand vociferous backing from the terraces to spur QPR on in one of their most important games of the season so far.

The 25-year-old German has only found the back of the net three times in the Championship so far this season, but his aerial ability and hold-up play could prove crucial in what is likely to be a passionate encounter between two capital-based sides who have only met eight times previously this century.

Both QPR and Brentford secured a win apiece in the second tier last season, though Polter has proven that he knows what it takes to emerge victorious in a derby, scoring the second as Rangers sealed a 3-0 triumph over the Bees back in March (below).

And the 6ft 2ins targetman will be desperate to repeat the feat on Friday night in order to avoid a first defeat against Brentford at Loftus Road since 1964.
