QPR: Not convinced Green is the right man

QPR fan Paul Moore is far from thrilled at the prospect of Rob Green joining the West London club ahead of next season.

I write this article as a QPR fan and this is my opinion; I’m in no way having a go at the man himself but Robert Green QPR goalkeeper is a big no.

Mark Hughes says that both he and the club are ambitious of which we all buy into; Tony Fernandes is backing up the words he says with his wallet.

Robert Green to me is a good keeper but not a great keeper by any means. When it comes to the big stage he doesn’t seem to have the nerve for it.

Credit where it’s due; he stuck with West Ham when they went down and now they are back in the top flight he feels he needs a new challenge. I just hope it’s with someone else.

Mark Hughes may feel getting him on a free will free up funds elsewhere but it’s a major department in the team. Every single player can change a game but even more so a goalkeeper.

My concern is his form; most goalkeepers normally have the odd bad game but Green has more than his fair share. You can’t get away with that at the top level of football; you will get punished every time.

He’s also not the best at crosses and his speed coming out has to be questioned.

This is not a personal attack on Rob Green but my club is looking not only to stay up but move up the table. To quote Mark Hughes at the end of last season, ‘This won’t happen at this club again while I’m manager,’

Don’t want to burst your bubble Mark but sign Rob Green and that’s exactly where we will be!

If and only if Paddy leaves I’d like to see Ben Foster sign for us. He has both age and experience as well as being one of the best in the country.

He may cost 4 or 5 million pounds but he will prove it’s money well spent when we are vying for a European spot.

I’m all for a Green world, but I don’t want a QPR Green goalkeeper.

Do you agree or disagree with Paul? Is Green up to the task?
