Ian Holloway was appointed as the Queens Park Rangers manager last month.

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Massimo Luongo has suggested to The Set Pieces that the club should not sack Ian Holloway anytime soon.

Holloway was appointed the QPR manager in November following the departure of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Hasselbaink parted company with Rangers following a poor run of results.

Luongo has suggested that the London outfit should not get rid of Holloway even if promotion to the Premier League is not achieved this season.

“You can’t put a time limit on it,” the 24-year-old Australia international midfielder told The Set Pieces regarding promotion from the Championship.

“It’s for us to work hard and get there. It’s definitely possible, we’re not far off the play-offs [but] I think at the moment we’re looking a bit too far from automatic because the tip-top teams are doing so well.

“Say it doesn’t work out this season, and we keep one manager and he does what he wants to do, then we could look like a proper force.”

QPR are 17th in the Championship table at the moment with 23 points from 19 matches.

The London club are just four points above the relegation zone and eight points behind sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday.

Rangers can still launch a challenge for the playoffs, but for that to happen, they need to put together a run of positive results.

Holloway’s side will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Rotherham United away from home at the AESSEAL New York Stadium in the Championship.

Rotherham are at the foot of the Championship table at the moment with just seven points from 19 matches.
