Glasgow Rangers midfielder Josh Windass has impressed for the Ibrox side in pre-season.
HITC Sport reported that Windass’ future at Ibrox appeared to be in possible doubt earlier in the summer with Pedro Caixinha weighing up his options ahead of his first full season with the Gers.

Windass endured a difficult first year with the Light Blues, failing to deliver more than a few glimpses of genuine quality as he struggled to hold down a place in the side – so it would have hardly been a surprise if Caixinha had decided to move him on if an acceptable bid had come in.
However, it would perhaps be fair to suggest that QPR have now missed their chance to land Windass after some of his recent displays in pre-season, during which Rangers have secured some impressive results.
The latest promising result came at Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, and it was the 23-year-old who put them on their way to a 2-0 win as he scored the opener, coolly sliding the ball under the goalkeeper to give the Scottish Premiership side the lead.
Not only has Windass’ form in pre-season been extremely encouraging, but that latest display certainly hints that he could have been a very useful signing for QPR as it came against one of Ian Holloway’s side’s Championship rivals for the coming season, who put out a strong team on the day.

Therefore, it was perhaps the strongest indication yet that he would have been a decent player for the Loftus Road outfit in the second tier, and thus, they may well be regretting not stepping up their pursuit if they did not follow up their interest with a bid.
While nothing has been confirmed, based on Windass’ recent displays, it would surely now be a lot harder for Caixinha to justify letting the attacking midfielder go than it would have been when QPR’s interest was reported – had that indeed been a possibility the Portuguese was considering.
