Jake Bidwell’s contract is up in the summer and the Queens Park Rangers man is yet to be offered a new deal.
Queens Park Rangers left-back Jake Bidwell has spoken out about his contract situation, with the club yet to discuss new terms.
Bidwell has been with QPR for two-and-a-half-years now, and admits he is confident that the west Londoners will speak to him soon enough.
“I’m enjoying it at the moment and I’m just concentrating on that and I’m sure that if and when the club are ready to come and talk to me I’m sure they will,” Bidwell told football.london.
“There’s always that in the back of your mind where you think about what might happen next season but you’ve just got to concentrate on your football.”
Bidwell has arguably enjoyed his best football in a Rangers jersey since signing from rivals Brentford in 2016.
Even after a poor start this season, Bidwell has reinvented himself in many ways and become a key member of manager Steve McClaren’s starting line-up.
Fans of the west Londoners will likely want the club to move on with talks with Bidwell sooner rather than later, who is free to talk to clubs in January.
After losing Jack Robinson and Nedum Onouha last season, it is vital that McClaren clarifies the situation to ensure QPR’s defence is as strong as possible ahead of next season.
Failure to tie Bidwell down will ultimately leave McClaren up against it next summer to find a suitable replacement that fits Rangers’ budget.
