The Charlton Athletic boss is said to be on a five-man shortlist for the Queens Park Rangers job.
The Charlton Athletic manager, Lee Bowyer, has confirmed he has been offered a new contract amid speculation linking him with the Queens Park Rangers vacancy.
Bowyer revealed earlier this month that talks with Lieven de Turck, a close ally of the Charlton owner, Roland Duchatelet, were due to commence (South London Press).
But speaking to the same publication this week, the 42-year-old insisted an agreement has yet to be reached.
“I’ve spoken to Lieven and he’s made an offer,” said Bowyer, who is said to be on a five-man shortlist drawn up by QPR (London Evening Standard). “But it’s not agreed yet.
“I’m sure he’ll come back and we’ll resolve it.
“It is just negotiations now, the ball is rolling. Hopefully, we come to some agreement.”
Bowyer emerged as a contender for the QPR job after McClaren was sacked at the start of April.
But, speaking to Love Sport Radio earlier this month, the Charlton striker, Lyle Taylor, said he and his teammates were informed by the boss that the rumours are “rubbish” or “nonsense”.
Given Bowyer’s achievements over the past 13 months, however – one fifth-placed finish and another on the cards – QPR might not be the only club sniffing around The Valley this summer.
