Rio Ferdinand
Joey Barton has reacted to Rio Ferdinand’s three-game ban on Twitter, showing his support for his QPR team-mate.
The centre-back was recently suspended for three games and fined £25,000 by the Football Association for using the word ‘sket’ in a tweet.
Barton, however, feels the decision is an ‘absolute disgrace.’
Meanwhile, the London Evening Standard report that Ferdinand could play for QPR against Chelsea at the weekend if the club appeal to have his ban delayed – and this could be in a different position to his usual role at centre-back.
Harry Redknapp
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has backed R’s boss Harry Redknapp and believes he is not under pressure.
“I don’t think he’s under pressure,” the Blues boss told reporters.
“I’m happy that his boss (chairman Tony Fernandes) came out and in difficult moments, not in an easy moment, and told the football country that he trusts Harry and he’s the man for now, he’s the man for the future.
“Harry is perfectly calm and steady and he knows that his place doesn’t depend on results.”
Eduardo Vargas
Elsewhere, Eduardo Vargas has been rewarded for his fine form in October by being voted fans’ player of the month.
