Could Diego Lugano be a target for QPR?
A look at QPR’s defensive record this season shows simply enough that they need reinforcements in central defence.
Michael Dawson is a name regularly linked, but as of this week a new name has been added to the fray.
Diego Lugano, Uruguay’s international captain is the man in question.
He currently plays for PSG, but is struggling to hold down a place since the arrival of Thiago Silva in the summer and is being tipped to leave the club.
The player’s agent confirmed earlier this week that his client has a number of options.
One of which is a move back to South America with Gremio, as well as an offer from Spain.
The third option is the Premier League. Italian website Tuttamercatoweb claims QPR are one of two clubs in England interested in his signature, the second have not been named.
Lugano is 32, and has previously been linked with Manchester United.
If QPR could add him to the ranks h would be an excellent signing, and as they showed with Julio Cesar, no name is too big.
Lugano is a battling centre-back and a real leader on the pitch, exactly what QPR need in a relegation scrap.
If Harry can pull it off it will be a real coup.
