Queens Park Rangers chairman Amit Bhatia has tweeted his delight at the club’s recent transfer activity, leaving the R’s faithful calling for defensive recruits to follow.
The Hoops captured Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells on season-long loans from Brighton and Hove Albion and Burnley, but the back line still needs addressing.
After QPR’s worst ever start to a season, Steve McClaren’s side have shipped an eye watering 13 goals in four games and remain rooted to the bottom of the Championship.
After the departure of club-captain Nedum Onouha, Jack Robinson and James Perch also left the west Londoners this summer and although the R’s have brought in two defenders, there is no strength in depth.
According to the Daily Record’s live blog (Aug 23, 13:21), Barnsley’s Liam Lindsay has emerged as a QPR target, whilst Sebastian Bassong has been training with the club. Bassong is available on a free.
Rumours emerged on Twitter regarding James Collins next club as well, and if truth be told, QPR fans are likely to be very happy to see any one of the three sign to shore up their leaky defence.
Bhatia, though, will need to ensure that McClaren and Director of Football Les Ferdinand move quickly to tie up any further loan signings – with just seven days of the window left. QPR will want a settled squad going into the international break.
