Brown finally made his debut for Leeds against QPR on Tuesday night.

Izzy Brown finally made his first-team comeback after almost 14 months on the sidelines, coming on for the last 10 minutes of Leeds United’s Championship defeat to QPR – and some QPR fans reckon he should have seen red.

The 22-year-old was dealt a cruel blow back in January 2018, as he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in just the sixth minute of an FA Cup clash between Brighton and Crystal Palace, while on loan with the Seagulls.

He returned to Chelsea and started his recovery, before Leeds opted to sign Brown in the summer knowing full well that he was injured. The plan was to continue his rehab at Leeds, and get him back as soon as possible.

A return was expected before the turn of the year but subsequent niggles have held the Chelsea loanee back. But on Tuesday night he finally returned to the fold, coming on in the 81st minute for Gjanni Alioski.

Brown has scored with ease while turning out for the club’s Under-23 side, and the 10-minute cameo role against QPR will be an enormous step in the right direction for the versatile attacker.

But QPR fans reckon he should have been sent off. Immediately after Brown came on, the attacker lunged into a tackle with Jordan Cousins. QPR’s Twitter described the challenge as “terrible”, while fans believe he should have seen red.

Brown then preceded to make another foul which referee Andy Davies deemed only worthy of a free-kick, though QPR supporters reckon a red card was deserved.
