Steve McClaren predicts a quiet summer for QPR and wants to target ‘quality not quantity’.

It almost feels like a lifetime ago now that Queens Park Rangers were splashing the cash and competing in England’s top tier. Long-gone are the days of Christopher Samba and Jose Bosingwa, and it’s fair to say QPR fans are relieved their club is beginning to remodel itself in a smarter fashion.
Steve McClaren is the latest manager to be tasked with continuing the strong foundations left by former boss Ian Holloway. And the 57-year-old has revealed that he expects minimal activity in the transfer market this summer, as reported by West London Sport.
“We have to look at what’s needed, but I’m pleased with what we’ve got,” McClaren said. “I think the core – the nucleus – of the squad is very good. We need to add quality not quantity. There won’t be a lot.”

If truth be told, QPR fans weren’t expecting a flurry of new signings in W12, but now that McClaren has confirmed that, the loan market needs to be thoroughly explored as an alternative option. The west Londoners’ are short in numbers of experienced defenders and it’ll be vital to strengthen sooner rather than later.
The Super Hoops are able to call upon a number of young stars who are beginning to make an impression in the first team, however. The likes of Luke Freeman, Alex Smithies and Massimo Luongo are seasoned pro’s who would walk into most Championship teams – so there’s plenty of talent already on-board.
Nonetheless, McClaren will look to for sensible additions, but QPR fans have had their say on the former Derby County managers’ comments with mixed reviews:
